Accreditation and Status
It should be understood that the program operates simultaneously under two sets of guidelines; those imposed by Wayne State University and the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and those by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools. The National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) reviews transcripts and determines the eligibility of the graduate to take the National Certification Examination (NCE).
This program is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs which is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE), and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The office for the professional association, the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) is located at 222 S. Prospect Avenue, Suite 304, Park Ridge, Illinois 60068-4010.
The program was reviewed by the COA in the spring of 2003 and received the maximum accreditation status of 10 years. Students are actively involved in the accreditation review process. The details of their role are provided during the accreditation planning process.
