Outcome Expectations

Upon graduation from the educational program, the nurse anesthesia student will have attained the following goals to:

  • Perform as a safe, competent anesthetist, striving to protect patients from iatrogenic complications.
  • Meet all terminal behavioral objectives of the educational program.
  • Achieve a passing score on the National Certification Examination, that will meet or exceed the COA benchmark.
  • Deliver anesthesia services to all patient population, including emergency and trauma patients.
  • Follow all infection control guidelines and use universal precautions at all times.
  • Participate in quality management and process improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate the required knowledge and competencies to be employed in diverse service settings including rural hospitals to provide quality and safe anesthesia care to a diverse patient population.
