In 1967, Dorothy M Brown was asked to head the Medical Technology program at Wayne State University, a post she held until her retirement in 1996. In 1981, the WSU Provost appointed her Deputy Dean of Allied Health Professions, as an added assignment to her current position as chair of Medical Technology and that her position as Deputy Dean was subject to review upon the appointment of the next Dean. Dr. Brown remained Deputy Dean until 1993. She was a member of the committee that recommended the establishment of the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. Membership in the University Council and representing the Academic Senate in statewide meetings were among her responsibilities. Dr. Brown participated in several national workshops on legal issues for the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. She also served as treasurer of her constituent group for the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions.
