Senior Year Award
This award is presented to the Clinical Laboratory Science/Cytotechnology graduate who---
- Maintains an academic honor point average of 3.25 or greater during the entire professional program (Junior and Senior years)
- Has completed all the course work of the Clinical Laboratory Science/Cytotechnology curriculum.
- Displays potential leadership skills.
- Expresses a professional interest in Clinical Laboratory Science/Cytotechnology based upon a recommendation by the Program Director or Education Coordinator from the affiliated hospital of the student's clinical rotation.
One candidate from each of the affiliated hospitals will be selected by the Education Coordinator of each respective institution. Names will be submitted to the MT/CLS Alumni Affiliagtes Awards Committee. An example for the candidate's selection by the Education Coordinator may be based upon presentation of an outstanding student paper and/or unique project during the student's clinical rotation. the Awards Committee will review all candidates and determine the recipient of this award at the completion of the Senior Year of the professional program and upon graduation from Wayne State University.
The following will be presented to the Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Cytotechnologist of the Year by an MT/CLSAA officer in the fall:
- Plaque describing criteria for selection. This plaque will be inscribed with the student's name and will be placed in the Conference room on the fourth floor CLS suitel.
- Small plaque which the student may keep.
- Fifty dollar monetary award.
