Gradute Certificates
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Students can apply for admission to the graduate certificate programs offered in OEHS at anytime during the academic year. However, it is advised that applications be submitted at least three months in advance of semester start-dates.
Students may be admitted into the certificate programs while enrolled in another graduate degree program. However, a graduate admissions application must be submitted. Students already enrolled or graduated from one or more of the Department MS degree programs will be required to fill out a separate departmental "Continuing Graduate Education Application Form," available from the OEHS Department office.
Grade Point Average: Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students are expected to earn no more than one course with a B minus or C grade. If the grade is in a core or required course, the student will be encouraged to repeat the course. The acquisition of a second B minus or less can lead to dismissal from the program.
The time limitation for earning these part-time certificates is 3 years. No transfer of credit is permitted into these graduate certificate programs. However, application can be made to apply up to nine credits earned in these graduate certificates towards elective course requirements of the MS degree programs in occupational and environmental health sciences.
Advancement to the OEHS MS Degree Program: Students wishing to advance to the MS degree program and its subspecialties will have to demonstrate a GPA of 3.0 or above and meet the additional prerequisite requirements for admission into the MS degree program that include the GRE examination and additional undergraduate courses (see page 3). Students can apply to transfer up to nine credit hours earned in this certificate into their MS degree program.
