Doreen Head MS, OTR is an Assistant Professor in the Occupational
Therapy program in the Department of Health Sciences at Wayne State
University. Professor Head is the Graduate Coordinator for the Master of
Occupational Therapy (MOT) program which includes coordinating the
admission process. Professor Head has been an active member of the
Academic Senate since 1998. Professor Head is near completion of a
doctoral degree in the Department of Sociology at Wayne State
University. Professor Head has many years of experience working with
children, adolescents and adults, in long and short term treatment
settings settings who have mental health disorders. Through practice and
consultation with work force development, Professor Head has addressed
treatment issues related to the development and restoration of physical,
social and life task skills necessary for preparing for and sustaining
employment. Research interest for Professor Head include community
health issues related to adolescent pregnancy, work force development
for those individuals who have difficulty acquiring and maintaining
employment due to mental health issues, and currently conducting
research for dissertation on determining the correlates of neighborhood
satisfaction in two historic Detroit neighborhoods.
