Experiential Education at Wayne State
Pharmacy students at Wayne State University participate in professional experiences throughout the curriculum. These experiences are arranged through the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The pharmacy program is fortunate to have affiliations with a number of local health systems and community pharmacies in southeastern Michigan . There are over 300 faculty who precept students and enrich the educational experience. The faculty members responsible for experiential education are:

Requirements for Pharmacy Practice Experiences (PPEs)
Students must meet a number of requirements related to health and insurance before being permitted to participate in practice experiences. This may include criminal background checks and drug testing. This information is available in the Requirements for Doctor of Pharmacy Students in Patient Care Settings.

Preceptor Development
All preceptors affiliated with Wayne State University are required to complete an online preceptor development program (available soon) to ensure that they are familiar with the policies and procedures related to experiential education at Wayne State University as well as basic principles and techniques on effective precepting. In addition, the Department of Pharmacy Practice regularly offers live preceptor development workshops.
