Specialty Pharmacy Continuum: Dr. Amber Lanae Martirosov on pharmacist involvement improving drug adherence for interstitial lung disease“Ultimately, we plan to do a quasi-experimental analysis looking at time to drug initiation, rates of dose reductions and rate of discontinuation before and after adding a pharmacist to management,” Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice Amber Lanae Martirosov noted. “There have also been requests from providers who have seen what we have done with ILD to add our services to other diseases like sarcoidosis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, so we are working with them to see if there is the possibility to embed a pharmacist in those clinics as well.”

Today@Wayne: PharmD graduate Klea Noskey '23 achieves her dreamIt’s been nearly a decade since Klea Noskey arrived in the US from her tiny, picturesque village in Albania, determined to earn an education. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but after earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree this week, Noskey will start her residency at Beaumont Hospital-Troy. She said, "I would like to be a clinical pharmacist, and that’s why I decided to pursue residency because it gives me a lot more clinical knowledge and gets me more familiar with the system and will allow me to collaborate with the doctors and nurses and PAs and be part of the team.”

GALLERY: Wayne State STEM Day 2023Wayne State University hosted nearly 2,500 students and teachers from 27 metro Detroit middle schools for a day of hands-on STEM activities across campus. WSU Applebaum participated with interactive sessions on medical laboratory science, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, radiation therapy technology and radiologic technology. Students had a blast concocting their own Warrior Lotion, helping a skeleton move, using surgical techniques to remove objects from Jell-O and more!

Wayne State named among Top 10 pharmacy schools for NAPLEX pass ratesAccording to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), 92% of WSU Applebaum students who took the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) in 2022 passed, putting Wayne State’s Doctor of Pharmacy program in the top 10 of the 144 ranked pharmacy schools. The national pass rate was 78%.
